Breast Augmentation
What Is Breast Augmentation?
Breast augmentation, otherwise known as augmentation mammoplasty, is a surgical technique used to enhance the size of a woman’s breasts. Breast augmentation is sometimes called “Boob Job” or “Breast Enlargement Surgery.” The Plastic Surgeon will use saline or silicone implants in the patient’s breasts to increase the size.
During the initial discussion, the surgeon will ask about your budget and final goal to ascertain the best option of implant for your needs. Each implant has distinct advantages and disadvantages.
Why Do Women Choose Breast Augmentation?
Getting a breast augmentation done is a very personal choice. There’s no singular reason a woman would choose to alter the appearance of their breasts with surgery. Here are some of the reasons cited by our patients:
- To make their breasts look fuller.
- To achieve a symmetrical appearance (in case one of the breasts is smaller or more elongated than the other).
- To keep their pre-pregnancy breast shape after having children.
- To enhance the proportions of their breasts and hips.
- To boost their self-esteem and beauty.

How Is Breast Augmentation Performed?
There are two options for women who want to increase their bust size: implants and fat grafting.
Implants
This is a surgical procedure in which silicone implants are placed in the breasts. First, a pocket-like area is created beneath your breast tissue or behind your chest muscle during this surgery. The implants are inserted through a little inframammary crease on the bottom of your breasts. Finally, the implant is installed, and the wounds closed. Patients who want to go up multiple cup sizes tend to choose implants over fat grafting.
Fat Grafting
The surgeon takes a small quantity of fat and transfers it from one part of the body to another. This is an outpatient operation that is performed under general anesthesia. This method is typically used on patients who want a more natural appearance.
What Are The Different Types of Breast Implants?
Types of breast implants include saline implants, structured saline implants, silicone implants, and textured silicone implants.
Saline Implants
Provide uniform shape and size to breasts. They’re made of sterile salt water.
Structured Saline implants
They’re made of the same sterile salt-water solution as the saline implants, but they have more structure in them.
Silicone implants
One of the most popular choices of implants. The gel material has a more natural breast tissue texture.
Textured silicone implants
The upgraded version of silicone implants. These implants are either micro-textured or nano-textured to give the breasts a fuller and rounder appearance.

FAQ
FAQ about Breast Augmentation
Newer generations of implants are designed to last a lifetime. Implants made by reputable manufacturers are unlikely to suffer manufacturing flaws such as a leak or rupture/degradation.
However, breast implants are not usually a one-time surgical operation. You may require new implants at times. Therefore you should attend regular check-ups following the breast augmentation to evaluate the status of the implants.
The size and form of your breasts may alter due to weight reduction, weight increase, hormonal changes, aging, or pregnancy. See one of our surgeons if you are still unhappy with how it appears.
The breast cup size increases in proportion to the original cup size and the volume of the implant inserted. WLS Clinic employs pre-operative sizing procedures such as the "BioDimensional Planning System for Matrix Implants," the Tebbitts method of sizing, or 3D sizing using Crisalix software to determine the best breast implant size for you.
You may choose a round or anatomical/contoured implant depending on the shape you hope to achieve.
Typically you can go home the same day as the procedure, depending on how comfortable you feel after surgery.
Results provided by the Independent Review Group (IRG) show no increased risk of cancer. However, it is always advised that women get mammograms done regularly, regardless of whether or not they have implants.
